Here is a truly accessible commentary on the classic sacred Hindu text, Bhagavad Gita, The Song of God.For those who aren't familiar, the Gita is actually a book within a book. It is included in the Maha Bharata (literally Great India), the most famous epic of ancient India, and the longest text of its kind in world history.
The Gita is actually a conversation between two main characters of the epic, the warrior Arjuna and his mentor, the deity-in-human-guise Krishna. On the threshold of beginning a great war, Arjuna has second thoughts because many of his relatives are among the opposing army. He expresses his doubts about the war to Krishna. It is Krishna's reply that constitutes the Song of God. Song, because like all sacred Indian texts it is to be chanted rather than spoken, when read devotionally; God, because Krishna is revealed as an incarnation of the divine.
The counsels contained in these verses are still relevant today. They are taught in schools of business and management as appropriate strategies and are followed by millions of Hindus as guidance for daily life.
But it is Nithyananda's commentary that gives the maximum update to the text and de-mystifies its archaic images, bringing it alive for the 21st century. With clarity, humor and insight, Nithyananda digs out the core of meaning from each passage.
Don't miss Nithyananda's new series of talks on Bhagavad Gita, given daily via his website from Aug 28 2011 onward! His colorful story-telling, dramatic impersonations of the characters, and new perspectives on the text make each talk mesmerizing. Find them on video at [...]; click on eN-News to access.
